The arrival of the A350s significantly boosts the SAA fleet with modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. Business and Economy Class customers will enjoy the quieter and more comfortable cabin which contributes to a more relaxing environment during flight. The aircraft is equipped with a number of special features including an array of mood lighting options and easy to operate extra-large overhead bins, all features enhancing the travel experience. While the high definition inflight entertainment systems (IFE) with touch screens allow passengers to access over 100 movies and TV programs on demand.
The aircrafts are environmentally friendly and will reduce SAA’s exposure to South Africa’s recently imposed Carbon Tax as it is more environmentally friendly and helps it achieve global emissions offset mechanism targets, for international aviation requirements. Our A350-900s are equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.
Cabin Configuration (Registration ZS-SDE and ZS-SDF)
These A350-900s are configured with a maximum of 326 seats, of which 28 are Business Class seats and 298 Economy Class seats.
Business Class
With 28 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, the Stelia Solstys III seats, with a 44-inch pitch, featuring full horizontal lie-flat beds, a 17-inch in-flight entertainment screen, and all seats feature privacy and direct aisle access for all passengers. Each seat is equipped with a USB and PC power port, individual reading lights, touch seat controls, and plenty stowage for personal items. The seat extends to a complete lie-flat bed at just over 190 cm. This aircraft also features an espresso maker (to be made part of the service at a later stage), bun warmer, and wine cooler.
Economy Class
At 298 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, the Recaro CL3710 seats offer a comfortable 31- and 33-inch pitch, and 12-inch in-flight entertainment screen. The seats have a slim-line design offering ample living space. Each seat has a USB charging part, as well as shared PC power ports to ensure that personal devices remain charged all the time.
Cabin Configuration (Registration ZS-SDC and ZS-SDD)
These Airbus A350-900s are configured with a maximum of 339 seats, of which 30 are Business Class seats and 309 are Economy Class seats, with the first six rows in Economy Class offering extra legroom to provide a more comfortable experience, especially on longer flights. The Business Class cabin has full lie flat beds.
Business Class
With 30 seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, these seats offer fully-horizontal lie-flat beds and 18-inch in-flight entertainment screens. All seats have a six-way adjustable headrest and adjustable privacy partition all at your fingertips. Each seat also is equipped with a USB and PC power port.
Economy Class
The 246 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, offer a seat pitch of 31 inches, plus 63 extra-legroom seats with a pitch of 35 inches and 10-inch in-flight entertainment screen. The extra legroom seats are further equipped with footrests, making the traveling comfort on a long-haul flights extra easy. Each seat has a USB charging part, as well as shared PC power ports to ensure that devices remain charged all the time.
