Things to do in Cape Town

Looking for things to do once you have booked your cheap flights to Cape Town? The Mother City is a melting pot of culture, history, heritage, nightlife, colour and sound. From City Bowl to Stellenbosch to Robben Island and everything in between, there is no shortage of dynamic, unforgettable experiences awaiting you in one of Africa’s most cosmopolitan hubs!

  • Table Mountain. Visit Table Mountain and take a cable cart ride to the top. Here you'll find panoramic views of the Mother City and the Table Mountain Cafe, where you can enjoy an affordably priced meal and a glass of wine. If you're feeling adventurous you can give the cable car a skip and hike or abseil your way down the mountain.
  • Long Street. Make a point of it to visit Long Street, situated in Cape Town's central district. Here you'll find a myriad stores, craft shops and Indie fashion boutiques, as well as an array of restaurants (from high-end to budget) and great nightclubs.
  • Greenmarket Square. This is one of Cape Town's oldest open-air markets and there is also a lot of open-air entertainment happening here during weekends (bad sentence). Best of all: it’s only a two minute walk from Long Street.
  • V&A Waterfront. Arguably Cape Town's most famous attraction, the V&A Waterfront is situated in the middle of Cape Town Harbour. Here you'll find high-end shops and restaurants, nightclubs, pubs, the Two Oceans Aquarium and The Springbok Experience.
  • Robben Island Museum. A mere 6.9km boat ride west of Table Bay takes you to the island where former president Nelson Mandela spent 27 years as a political prisoner. Now converted into a museum, Robben Island stands as a monument to Tata Madiba and other imprisoned activists who took part in the anti-apartheid struggle.
