Things to do in Perth
- Freemantle Prison. From 1855 to 1991, prisoners were incarcerated in the prison that was originally built by the institution's first inmates. Constructed from pale limestone that was dug out of the hill on which it was built, the prison only ever held 1,200 men and 58 women at any one time. Over the years, only 43 men and one woman were executed on site, with the last execution being that of serial killer, Eric Edgar Cooke in 1964.
