Things to do in Sao Paulo
- The Julio Prestes Cultural Center (Sala São Paulo). This is the home of the Symphony Orchestra of Sao Paulo and even if you're not a big fan of symphonic and chamber presentations, the building itself makes this a worthwhile destination. The arch design architecture and its rich history make this remodelled train station something to behold.
- Paulista Avenue. Take a walk down Paulista Avenue and experience the best of what Sao Paulo has to offer. You'll pass the House of Roses (the last of the famous coffee houses), the Cultural Reserve (which house the main theatre of the city), towards the end you'll find the National Assembly of Modern Architecture (inside which is also the largest book store in Sao Paulo) and in between there are loads of electronic stores and other shopping to be done. You can also walk part of this street by going underground where you'll find subway stations dotted with works of art.
- Serra da Cantareira State Park. This is a wildlife reserve situated close to the centre of the city. A pristine piece of native forest with a wide variety of plant and animal life. A great place for a hike or picnic.
