The grass is growing greener. The flowers are in full bloom. Finally, the cold winter’s over and spring is in the air! What better time to travel than now?
With this in mind, we’ve decided to refresh the way we work, too, by moving to a new and improved baggage policy…
The Piece Baggage Concept gives you, our passengers, the simplicity, transparency, convenience and competitiveness you’ve come to expect from a world class airline with new rules that are clear, easy to understand and easy to enforce. Now you can make sure you’re on top of any and all excess baggage cost, which are now charged at a much more competitive flat rate per piece, giving you peace of mind that’s a little easier on the pocket.
The Games come to a close..
The Olympic season may be over, but with South Africa taking home 3 Gold medals, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze at this year’s Olympic Games, our nation is left in high spirits.
But the winning doesn’t stop there!
South African Airways has also taken home an award of our own, winning 1st place in the business class white wine section of Global Traveller’s prestigious Wine on the Wing competition. We also placed 2nd in the red wine section, securing an overall 2nd place for the best business class wine offering on international routes.
Just another reason to celebrate with South Africa Airways…

Until next time, travel safe! |

Did you know?
Cape Town is also known as the Mother City. Framed by the panorama of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, it is one of Southern Africa’s most visited destinations. A city as beautiful as this? No surprises there!
First floodlit in 1947 to make the Royal Visit by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Cape Town’s world–renowned Table Mountain is a sight to behold – one that’s made the city famous.
While you’re there, enjoy a little wine tasting and take in parts of the oldest wine industry outside of Europe and the Mediterranean.
If you feel like a bit of fun, visit Boulders Beach and enjoy South Africa’s most famous penguin colony, which thrives thanks to the cold Antarctic currents on the west coast near the Cape. Feeling brave? Why not dive in and take a dip in their waters?
Cape Town’s got something for everyone, so book your seats today!

Changes To SAA’s Baggage Policy |
|
|
|
|
At SAA, we’re all about making sure your flight as convenient and stress-free as possible, which is why we’re moving to the new and improved Piece Baggage Concept.
This new policy aligns with most of the larger Star Alliance member carriers and promises a transparent set of rules across all networks – rules that are clear, easy to understand and easy to enforce.
Starting on the 5th September, restrictions will be made for the number of pieces of baggage you’re allowed to check–in, rather than the total weight of your luggage.
Now you can enjoy the simplicity, transparency, convenience and competitiveness you’ve come to expect from a world class airline.
